From Regent Road towards the southern part of Manchester city centre
“the considerable change that has taken place over the last 21 years”
This view is looking east from Regent Road (on the Salford side) towards the southern part of Manchester city centre.
The top photo was kindly provided by Chris Burnett of Chris Burnett Associates and is from 2003. On the left is the Campanile Hotel and on the right is the Grosvenor Casino. The railway viaduct is straight ahead and the roof of the G-Mex (now Manchester Central) is visible.
The bottom photo is from 2024 week and shows the considerable change that has taken place over the last 21 years. On the left are two of the buildings that form part of RENAKER’s Trinity Island scheme: on the left is the under construction 60 storey building (532 apartments) and, next to it, the 55 storey building (483 apartments).
Beetham Tower and Salboy’s Viadux are visible in the background along with Crosby Homes’ Potato Wharf apartments. On the right is the LQ Developments Water Street scheme, comprising 301 apartments and 6 townhouses, designed by Hodder + Partners and completed in 2017.
