Arndale Centre
“two photos that show the significant change in Manchester’s city centre retail experience”
This time we have gone for two photos that show the significant change in Manchester’s city centre retail experience over the past 40 years or so 🛍️
The top photo is from the early 1980s and looks towards the Arndale Centre along Corporation Street (note the absence of active frontages!) It was kindly provided to me by Warren Marshall who was Manchester City Council’s Urban Design & Conservation Officer up until 2010.
The more recent bottom photo is from what is now known as Exchange Square and shows the significant alterations that were made to the Arndale Centre from 1996 through to 2006. The Exchange Square Metrolink Stop also opened in 2015.
