Stanley Street & New Quay Street in Salford

“Europe’s largest living wall wraps the façades with around 350,000 plants (32 species)!”

Euan likes this one - the top photo was taken on the corner of Stanley Street/ New Quay Street in Salford during the depths of the financial crisis in March 2009.

The bottom photo gives an indication of the scale of change that has happened in the last 16 years or so with the delivery of New Bailey: a mixed use development which forms part of the 50 acre Salford Central Masterplan delivered by ENGLISH CITIES FUND - a strategic partnership between Muse, Homes England and Legal & General - in collaboration with Salford City Council.

This scheme includes the Eden building - shown in the photo - designed by Make Architects. The 12 storey building comprises 115,000 sqft of office space and reached practical completion in early 2024. Europe’s largest living wall wraps the façades with around 350,000 plants (32 species)!

Love this example of place making and regeneration
