The Epping Walk bridge

“famous for the renowned Joy Division photographs”

This one is another definite favourite of ours! The location is the Epping Walk bridge over Princess Road (famous for the renowned Joy Division photographs taken by Kevin Cummins in 1979).

The top photo was kindly provided by Chris Burnett of Chris Burnett Associates and shows the view in 2007 looking north towards the city centre.

The bottom photo is from July 2024 and shows the incredible change over the past 17 years. From the left to the right the buildings in the photo are:

The Manchester Metropolitan University Birley Fields Campus; Deansgate Square by RENAKER; River Street Tower by Downing; Beetham Tower by Beetham; Viadux by Salboy; Axis by Property Alliance; First Street South by Downing; and, The Manchester Metropolitan University’s Archway Hall student accommodation.
