EKPS publish review of surface level car parks in Central Manchester

On 23 January 2009, Britain officially entered recession for the first time since 1991 after the economy contracted by 1.5% between October and December 2008; this followed a 0.6% slump in the third quarter. Shortly after the recession was announced, Euan Kellie Property Solutions prepared a report which sought to identify potential development sites within Manchester’s Central Core.

It became clear in preparing this report that a number of sites were in use as surface level car parks. In light of the significant growth that has taken place in Manchester’s Central Core in the decade that has followed, Euan Kellie Property Solutions has revisited the findings of this work.

This study has sought to only identify surface level car parks that are available for use by members of the public. Whilst some of these sites may go on to operate as car parks for a significant period of time, it is assumed that many of them represent short-term land use solutions and will, eventually, be redeveloped.

This study includes a map showing the sites that have been identified, along with an accompanying site schedule.
