Embassy village takes major step forward

We’re always proud to say that Greater Manchester is in our DNA and, having worked on more than 100 schemes across the county, it’s easy to see why.

The latest project that has got our tongues wagging, though, is the pioneering Embassy Village – a groundbreaking initiative that will provide accommodation for 40 of Manchester’s homeless and vulnerable men.

We’ve been providing tailored advice, at no charge, to help discharge conditions and unlock the phased delivery of the scheme, something we’re awaiting with interest.

Situated below the 22 railway arches between Bridgewater Canal and River Irwell, on land provided by Peel Waters, the scheme includes a village hall and outdoor green spaces, including mini allotments and a multi-use sports area.

The modular, self-contained homes will come complete with a kitchenette and bathroom and benefit from on-site staff, all with the aim to provide those in need with skills to thrive on their own.

Plans for Embassy Village were drawn up pro-bono in 2021 and the project is expected to be complete in 2025.

Funded by various benefactors, the initiative has benefited from zero-profit support from companies across the built environment. Demonstrating our commitment to the cause, we are also providing monthly donations on top of our planning advice; cementing our long-term support of Embassy Village.

Sid Williams, co-founder and director at Embassy Village, said: “We are so incredibly grateful to Euan Kellie for the pro bono professional assistance with getting the Embassy Village to site! And, very generous regular monthly support to our work ongoing.

“For a small charity like us, having reputable companies in Manchester backing us and also journeying with us with forecastable funding is huge. We’re excited to have the great team at Euan Kellie partnering with us and hope others will be inspired to follow in their footsteps.”
