Permission granted for redevelopment of former Speke Comprehensive School site

On Tuesday 28 March 2017, Liverpool City Council Planning Committee were ‘minded to approve’ Keepmoat Homes’ planning application for the redevelopment of land previously occupied by the Speke Comprehensive School. The school was demolished in 2003 and the site, totalling 8 acres, has been fenced off and remained vacant and inaccessible since this time.

The proposals, designed by Preston-based MCK Associates, will deliver 147 residential units on the eight acre site, located on Central Avenue, and comprise a mix of two, three and four bed housing types.

Kelly Paddick of Euan Kellie Property Solutions, who acted as planning agents, said: “The proposals represent a fantastic opportunity to provide life and activity to this important site and, in so doing, make a positive contribution to Liverpool’s housing supply.”
