Unanimous Approval for One Manchester’s Affordable Housing Development in Newton Heath
Euan Kellie were delighted to secure a unanimous approval from Manchester’s Planning Committee for Phases 2 and 3 of One Manchester's 100% affordable housing development on Oldham Road in Newton Heath.
109 new homes (28 houses and 81 apartments) will be created by the development, comprising a mixture of social and affordable rented units, together with associated green spaces and landscaping.
The proposal (which forms part of a wider development being brought forward by One Manchester on the land off Oldham Road) will secure the regeneration of a highly sustainable brownfield site, providing additional footfall and activity in Newton Heath District Centre and delivering much needed new affordable housing for the city.
The development incorporates a range of measures aimed at minimising carbon emissions, including the use of timber frames, air source heat pumps, Electric Vehicle Charging points and water butts to enable rainwater collection for garden use.
Euan Kellie managed the planning application process and spoke in support of the development on One Manchester’s behalf at Planning Committee.
