Greengate, Trinity Way in Salford
“Some notable landmarks at the time …CIS Tower, Highland House, Arndale Tower…”
We think this one is quite special - the top photo was kindly provided by Paul Crompton and was taken in 1989 from his flat at Adelphi Court in Salford, looking east towards Greengate/ Trinity Way in Salford along with Manchester city centre in the background. Some notable landmarks at the time included, from left to right, CIS Tower, Highland House, Arndale Tower, City Tower, and the Deva Centre.
The bottom photo was taken during 2025 by David Booth of Place North and shows the change over the past 36 years or so - much of which has been delivered in the past 10.
From left to right: the 36-storey Angel Gardens by Moda; the remarkable transformation of Greengate (Salford’s medieval heart), featuring the 44-storey Anaconda Cut, 43-storey Bankside, 31-storey One Greengate; and, the 50-storey Cortland - all by RENAKER.
Adjacent to Greengate is 55 Queen Street and Local Blackfriars, both by Salboy and delivered by Domis Construction; and finally, the 26-storey Obsidian by Salboy, currently being delivered by Domis Construction.
Conscious there are many other schemes that I have not mentioned so please don’t hesitate to give them a shout in the submission form!
