“Trinity Bridge (is) a single‑span, cable‑stayed pedestrian and cycle bridge designed by Santiago Calatrava LLC”
This week’s top photo, kindly provided by Steve Welsh, is taken from Albert Bridge Gardens off Bridge Street beside the River Irwell (on the Manchester City Council side of the river) and dates back to 1990.
The bottom photo shows the changes on the Salford City Council side of the Irwell.
From left to right:
Affinity Living’s Riverside at 32 Quay Street, a purpose‑built rental building designed by Denton Corker Marshall, rising to around 16 storeys and completed in 2019 before opening in 2020.
Next is the The Lowry Hotel, designed by Consarc Architects and completed in 2001, which stands at around 11 storeys.
Linking the hotel to Manchester city centre is Trinity Bridge, a single‑span, cable‑stayed pedestrian and cycle bridge designed by Santiago Calatrava LLC and completed in 1995.
