The view from the Arndale Centre
“…and shows the incredible change over the past 26 years”
This Manchester Flashback Friday…is a belter!
The top photo was kindly provided by Ernst ter Horst of Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBStudios) and shows the view from the Arndale Centre in 1998 looking down towards (from left to right) the under construction M&S, the former Cannon Street, and the Corn Exchange.
The bottom photo was taken in August 2024 by David Booth of Place North West (huge thanks David) and shows the incredible change over the past 26 years. Firstly, the introduction of Exchange Square in 1999; the relocation of the listed Shambles Square pubs (to the left of the Corn Exchange); completion of the M&S; the Shambles West retail development (which includes Harvey Nicols, visible in the picture); and, the refurbishment of the Corn Exchange.
In the background is a snapshot of just some of the incredible investment in Salford, with City Suites 1 and Greengate.
