“the site has been transformed through the delivery of the Kampus development”

The top photo is from 2007 - kindly provided by Chris Burnett of Chris Burnett Associates - and shows the view from Aytoun Street looking south west towards what was part of The Manchester Metropolitan University’s Aytoun Campus, up until 2012 when the business school moved to the All Saints Campus off Oxford Road. The site comprised a series of 1960s buildings along with two Victorian listed buildings: Minto & Turner and Minshull House.

The bottom photo is from December 2024 and shows how the site has been transformed through the delivery of the Kampus development by HBD and Capital&Centric. Having been selected to deliver the redevelopment of the 2.5 acre site in 2015, work commenced in 2017 and the scheme was completed in 2022.

Architects Mecanoo completed the concept design before Chapman Taylor took over the architectural role on the project for the new-build elements and developed the detailed design through to project delivery. The scheme includes 534 BTR apartments across five buildings, landscaping, and 40,000 sq ft of independent bars, cafés and restaurants.
