Cornbrook proposals submitted to Trafford Council

Bellward Properties has submitted an application to Trafford Council for 363 residential units near to Cornbrook Metrolink station.

Designed by Tim Groom Architects, the proposal includes five blocks rising to around 19 storeys at the edge of the site with two- to three-bed townhouses in the centre.

Apartments will be layered on top of the townhouses, standing at around seven storeys. The apartments would be a mix of one-to-two bedrooms. In a typical block this would involve a townhouse on the lower two floors, apartments on the next two floors and a duplex flat on the two top floors.

The development area is near to Cornbrook station and on the edge of the Trafford and Manchester border, bounded by Bridgewater Way, Chester Road, Virgil Street and Princess Street.

Small businesses and garages occupy much of the site. Bellward Properties is understood to be in the process of purchasing the plots from multiple landowners.

Until recently, Cornbrook was a largely industrial area but now several residential developments are either currently the subject of planning applications or recently approved.

Euan Kellie Property Solutions is the appointed planning consultant on the project.
