A new photographic exhibition marking 30 years of change since the IRA bombing

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been nearly 30 years since an IRA bomb exploded in Manchester’s city centre.

To mark the moment, we’re putting on a photographic exhibition in partnership with Material Source, throughout the month of June.

Charting the city’s transformation since the bombing IRA, and inspired by Euan’s popular Flashback Fridays, the exhibition will juxtapose rare archival images of Manchester with contemporary photographs of the same locations years later.

While some views chart the immediate impact of the bomb and the city’s recovery, other shots reveal the ripple effects of the city’s regeneration, galvanised by this key event. There's also a glimpse ahead with visualisations of what might come next, from our friends at Our Studio.

The result is a striking visual narrative of resilience, regeneration and architectural evolution.

The free exhibition will be open to the public at Material Source for the month of June.
