Thirty years on: highlights from our panel event marking the anniversary of the IRA bomb

Our brilliant panellists, Sir Richard Leese, Rachel Haugh, Nathan Cornish and Hayley Fielden spoke to a packed out room at Material Source on the 30th anniversary of the IRA bombing in Manchester’s city centre.

Sharing recollections from the aftermath of the bombing, along with their reflections on Manchester’s resilience and what lies ahead, the event was a brilliant opportunity for people to come together from across the industry and celebrate what is now being termed as “Manchesterism”.

We asked the panellists to share their thoughts on what Manchester got right in the aftermath of the bombing, what the city’s priorities are now, and how it will thrive over the next 30 years.

As Sir Richard aptly summarises, Manchester gets things done, in part, because it believes it can get things done.
