Ten Boroughs, Two Days, Two Feet and A Bed Every Night

Our founding director, Euan, will be embarking on his next endurance challenge in July – walking between all ten of Greater Manchester’s local authorities.

He’s set himself the gruelling challenge to raise money for A Bed Every Night, a scheme from the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity, which is working to end rough sleeping and tackle the root causes of homelessness.

It’s a mission that Greater Manchester’s mayor, Andy Burnham, has focused on throughout his tenure.

A Bed Every Night has supported more than 1,400 people providing not only a bed for people sleeping rough, but wider societal and health care support services to help people begin a journey away from the streets.

Euan was inspired to fundraise for A Bed Every Night through our involvement with the Embassy Village project. Embassy Village will provide accommodation and support for 40 of Manchester’s homeless and vulnerable men, while also equipping them with skills to help them get back on their feet.

Euan will be wanting to be off his feet after these two days are up. But how is Euan feeling about the task at hand?

“We’re always proud to say that Greater Manchester is in our DNA and, having worked on more than 100 schemes across the area, it’s easy to see why.

“Greater Manchester has an incredible tapestry of urban, suburban and rural geography that needs to be celebrated and I’ll be doing just that as I explore it on foot through Wanderwalk.

I’m daunted by the challenge, but totally buzzing to get out there and do it. Nothing’s going to stop me!”

If you’d like to support Euan in his Wanderwalk, please sponsor him. He’s also welcoming people to join him along the route, so do get in touch if you fancy participating in Wanderwalk: Steps for GM – no matter how long or short, every step helps.
