This week another view from the Hilton Manchester Deansgate was chosen, this time looking south.

The top photo was taken in 2009 and shows the first phase of work associated with the delivery of what is now known as First Street (originally part of the Southern Gateway initiative from 2000). This included the recladding/ repurposing of the former British Council building, occupied by British Telecom up until 2006, and works to the surrounding area previously known as ‘Grand Island’.

The bottom photo from January 2024 shows the scale of delivery over the past 15 years or so, both at First Street and the surrounding area (including Viadux to the left).
