Permission granted for One Manchester’s 139 affordable homes in Newton Heath, Manchester

EKPS is proud to confirm that planning permission has been granted by Manchester City Council for One Manchester’s affordable housing proposals involving two plots of land located within Newton Heath in Manchester.

The site (approximately 1.10 hectares, 2.7 acres) comprises two individual parcels of land which are open grassland and a two-storey building formerly occupied by the YES Group.

The planning application was submitted to Manchester City Council in January 2020 and sought approval for the erection of a part 4 (plus ground), part 5 (plus ground) storey building to form 100 residential apartments together with ground floor commercial floorspace, and the erection of 39 two and three storey dwellinghouses The development includes a range of new property types comprising: 41 one -bedroom, two person apartments; 59 two-bedroom, three person apartments; 14 two-bedroom, three person dwellings; and, 25 three-bedroom dwellings. The development will be entirely affordable with 100 of the properties available as social rent and 39 as affordable rent provided by One Manchester.

The proposals were designed by architects tp bennett. EKPS provided town planning advice throughout the project.
